OpenType-SVG fonts

OpenType-SVG is a format in which an OpenType font has all or only some of its glyphs represented as SVG (responsive vector graphics) illustrations. This allows multiple colors and gradients to be displayed in a single glyph. Because of these particularities, OpenType-SVG fonts are also referred to as “color fonts.” Tinted by adobe.com

This font format offers another way to decorate texts in different arts and/or designs, some of these fonts can even offer multiple alternatives for each letter/glyph, thus expanding the capacity for stylistic or decorative alternatives.

The OpenType-SVG format is supported by software capable of reading SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) over the code of this type of fonts. It is not recommended for standard word processors and is not compatible with all font viewers (such as the Windows font viewer in most of its versions). This file format is developed directly for Designers, creators and/or editors with knowledge of professional design software, who know and have the necessary tools to read, modify and use these files.

Recommendations:

  • Before purchasing the premium license make sure you have tested the DEMO version (Non-commercial sample of the font) on the system, application, software and/or platform where you want to use the font. Visit this link to download and test the OpenType-SVG fonts you want to purchase fontspace.com

  • After downloading, (if desktop OS) proceed to install or register the font DEMO file in your system font list/catalog, after that: proceed to load the font into your design software/application or word processor. If when loading and using the font you notice that the font colors, gradients or textures were not loaded, then this software/application does not support the OpenType-SVG format.

  • If it is a web design platform or mobile application such as Android/iOS, make sure to upload the file in the indicated section. After uploading, open a new project, use the DEMO font and make sure that it correctly displays the colors, gradients or textures it contains. If not, it may be that the App/Platform does not support OpenType-SVG or, failing that, check with technical support/Developer to check if this format is compatible.
